Anthony has been a Community Builders resident for two years. This past month, he graduated from the Peer Program by completing twenty-five hours of work and earning $500.
The Peer Program provides low-barrier opportunities for residents to contribute to the cleanliness and upkeep of their housing sites, earning valuable work experience, income and confidence along the way. It’s one of the ways we’re empowering residents to set and achieve employment goals.
Anthony is proud to be among the first to graduate from the program. He completed his hours in less than three months, making him one of the quickest participants to do so. Anthony’s most recent job was at a grocery store, but he’d been looking for work for over a year before learning about the Peer Program. He liked that the program was in-house, meaning he didn’t have to travel, and that it gave him a chance to help out around his housing site and meet more of his neighbours. That’s been the most rewarding part of his time in the Peer Program, in addition to the money, and the fact that he can now add the work experience to his resume.
Anthony looks forward to starting the program again in 2025 and earning another $500. In the meantime, he’s busy at work on his dream job: record producer. He loves music more than just about anything.
